What Are Cosmetic Laser Treatments?
In cosmetic applications, laser technology uses high-energy light to target specific skin concerns through a process called photothermolysis. The technique harnesses light (photo) frequency to generate heat (thermo) in a targeted area, effectively breaking down (lysis) unwanted pigments, such as brown spots, or addressing conditions like broken capillaries.
There are many different kinds of light-based technologies on the market, including ablative and nonablative lasers, fractionated and non-fractionated lasers, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), and radiofrequency (RF) devices. Each technology serves a unique purpose, allowing our specialists to tailor treatments to the specific needs and skin concerns of each patient.
What Skin Conditions Do Lasers Treat?
Because lasers allow us to use light and heat energy across multiple applications, there is a vast array of conditions that lasers can safely and effectively treat. Below are a few of the most common concerns lasers can address:
- Aging: Fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, skin laxity
- Pigmentation: Hyperpigmentation, post-inflammatory acne marks, birthmarks, sun spots, redness
- Textural Irregularities: Raised or sunken scars, sun damage
- Vascular Lesions: Spider veins, telangiectasias, and other unsightly blood vessels
- Tattoo Removal: Decorative tattoos, traumatic tattoos, medical tattoos
- Hair Removal: Unwanted hair anywhere on the body
- Vaginal Conditions: Atrophy, dryness, dyspareunia
Our Lasers
We use the following devices and multi-handpiece laser systems from Rohrer Aesthetics to help our patients achieve powerful results for smoother, brighter, clearer, younger-looking skin.
Phoenix CO2 Laser
This laser system features multiple handpieces that allow our specialists to target a variety of patient concerns, including:
- Micro Laser Peel: A thin layer of skin is removed to improve texture and restore a more youthful appearance. This CO2 microfacial is more effective than a light chemical peel yet gentler than full skin resurfacing.
- Skin Resurfacing: CO2 laser resurfacing reduces fine lines and wrinkles and removes uneven pigmentation and sun spots for smoother, more even-toned skin.
- Hand Rejuvenation: Age spots, sun damage, fine lines, and wrinkles can all be targeted with the Phoenix CO2 laser for youthful hands.
- Vaginal Rejuvenation: A brief CO2 laser session can improve vaginal conditions such as dryness, itching, burning, and atrophy.
Pixel8 Pro RF Microneedling
Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling combines the benefits of collagen induction therapy (CIT) with radiofrequency energy waves. Microneedling uses tiny needles to create tiny punctures in the skin, stimulating collagen production. RF energy boosts this process by delivering heat into the deeper skin layers, stimulating and remodeling collagen, and boosting elastin regeneration.
The benefits of RF microneedling include:
- Skin tightening
- Smoother skin
- Reduced fine lines and wrinkles
- Improved skin texture
- Reduced acne scars
- Improved appearance of stretch marks
- Little to no downtime
Spectrum Laser System
This multi-platform system includes four lasers plus IPL, allowing our providers to offer patients a wide range of popular aesthetic treatments.
Laser Hair Removal
The 810-diode laser attachment provides permanent hair reduction. This laser targets melanin in the hair shaft, destroying the follicle and preventing future hair growth. This safe treatment can be applied anywhere on the body.
Tattoo Reduction
The Q-Switched YAG/KTP laser attachment can be used to treat pigmented lesions and remove tattoos. This laser uses dual wavelengths to target and destroy a variety of tattoo pigments.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
This attachment has four light filters that can be used to address acne, pigmentation, vascular reduction, and hair reduction.
- Acne: IPL treatments target acne-causing bacteria.
- Pigmentation: Pigments in the skin absorb light energy, which is then converted to heat and eventually removed from the body.
- Spider Veins: Targeted veins absorb light energy and disappear over time.
- Hair: Body hairs are reduced when active hair follicles are heated by light energy, and the hair-producing papillae are destroyed.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
The Erbium:YAG laser attachment offers fractionated or fully ablative skin resurfacing on the face, neck, chest, and hands. This laser targets surface pigmentation and can also treat mild to moderate fine lines and wrinkles. This treatment involves minimal downtime but provides dramatic results for our patients.
Treatments are fully customized depending on the needs of the patient.
Spider Veins and Vascular Treatments
The long-pulsed YAG laser attachment allows for vascular reduction and vascular lesion removal. This laser safely heats targeted blood vessels and causes them to collapse. This laser can also remove other vascular lesions, including telangiectasia and cherry angioma.
